Who is NetDNA?
NetDNA is a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Content Delivery Networks are critical for enhancing a site’s quality, reliability, and scalability. Our CDN will deploy your website content across our global network.
What is a CDN?
A CDN is a big network consisting of servers in data centers around the world with the purpose of allowing fast and reliable delivery for static assets such as images, css, js files primarily, and can be used to enhance the download speed of applications, distributing live events, and/or streaming media on demand.
What types of CDN do you offer?
We offer all the types mentioned in the above paragraph. Below is a break-down of what we offer
- HTTP Caching ( Origin Pull )
HTTP Caching, or Origin Pull, is the most common type of CDN and it is used the most to accelerate websites. It works simply by altering the reference URL for static assets such as images, css, js files on a website to reference a CDN URL. The CDN URL is the URL of a Pull Zone. Origin Pull is used on thousands of WordPress, Joomla, Drupal powered sites, and many other CMS’s. Also it is used on Non-CMS websites as well. - Origin Push ( File upload & Storage ) Origin Push is where files are uploaded to a storage bucket (Push Zone) via FTP or sFTP to be distributed across our CDN Network for download and usage.
- Media Streaming on Demand This is what VOD Zones are for. Audio and Video files are uploaded to a VOD Zone to be streamed on any website.
- Live Media Streaming Live Zones are used to replicate and re-distribute a Live Event for viewers across the world. Some of the famous Live Streaming software are Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and WireCast.
General FAQ
Yes. We have periodic checks for illegal contents and malware being distributed over our network. Any content found that does not comply with our TOS will be removed without notice.
Adult Content, as long as the content is legal in the United States and the client owns the copyrights for the content, will be allowed. Child Pornography and any other form of illegal content is strictly prohibited on our network.
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and PayPal. Different payment options are available only for Enterprise/Contract clients.
After the payment is made, you will receive an activation email in which you will find a link that you must click to activate your account. Make sure to always check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive the activation email within 5~10 minutes from signing up. If you used PayPal, it may take longer as PayPal payments are manually approved.
The 1 Terabyte is only bandwidth. HTTP Caching does not incur any storage consumption. However, as a courtesy, we offer the first 250 Megabytes of storage which can be used with Push and VOD Zones. Anything above the 250 Megabytes will incur a monthly fee for the storage that is explained on the MaxCDN Pricing page.
A secure token costs $59.00 per month per zone. Which means that each VOD Zone that has a secure token will incur an extra $59.00 per month.
This is not included. You will need to check with your flash player company to see if they have instructions, or a service to compile the secure token we provide you into the player itself.
No. However, you can have a Secure Token for each VOD Zone you have. So you can have a virtually unlimited number of Secure Tokens.
We offer very detailed and comprehensive reporting in our control panel. However, due to the nature of Raw Access Logs and their size, access to them is not public and they can be reterived only for Enterprise Clients by our System Administrators on demand.
At this time, password protected directories is a functionality that is yet to be added.
MaxCDN Clients can use up to 100 GB of storage shared between their Push and VOD Zones, you need to contact our Support Department.
HDDN Clients have a capped storage allotment which all their VOD Zones share.

At this time, the API can only be used to create, modify zones, purge a pull zone cache, and pull reports.
If you cancel a paying plan within 30 days of signing up we will refund you immediately; no questions asked! If you do choose to cancel your account in the future you will never be charged again, but you are responsible for charges already incurred up until your cancellation. Refunds can not be issued after your initial 10 days and we don’t prorate for a partial month.
After a file is being requested for the second time, it will be cached on our servers. This is to prevent caching files that are not being viewed/requesteed.
Storage for MaxCDN Clients is billed according to the tier. First tier is 10 Gigabytes for $9.59, Second Tier is 25 Gigabytes for $24.95, Third Tier is 100 Gigabytes for $69.95. If you require more storage, please contact our sales department.
The usage of an A Record is not supported at this time. Our system is designed to validate the custom domains, and for load balancing purposes, a Zone’s IP may change at any given moment. Therefore, only CNAMEs are allowed in order to create a custom domain name. Special arrangements are available to Enterprise Clients nevertheless.
You can resell our CDN services to your clients and create zones specific to their accounts. Please note that we will not provide direct support or direct billing to your clients. A white-label control panel solution is not available at this time.
The price to use a Custom/Private SSL Certificate is $24.95 per month. You can either use your SSL certificate or have us buy one for you and install it using the automated tool in our control panel.
The option to set a custom TTL is available for Pull Zones under “Advanced Settings”. This setting is per-zone and cannot be set globally for the entire account.
Yes, you need to always enable GZip Compression on CDN if you require using it.
Changing the Company Alias is not possible. Should it be imperativ to make the change, you need to open a new account, then cancel the old one. Any remaining bandwidth/funds will be switched over to the new account.
Absolutely. It is often recommended to use an SSH Key to avoid any potential password issues that could occur.
